17/365 Bias
The recent news about press people walking out of Jignesh Mewani's press conference has been creating a lot of buzz around it. I read a couple of posts from people who were arguing in favor of the press and others who were arguing in favor of Jignesh. I'm not here to make a judgement of who was right or wrong but one thing which is evident in today's opinion pieces written by people on their social media and also on mainstream media is their bias. There are sparsely any arguments about the issue, rather they make a judgement and construct their article in favor of it. This is an unhealthy practice. One is most welcome to present their arguments with facts, and also welcome to present their views with logic but making a judgement with a biased opinion is unfair.
In one of my MBA course which I completed recently, I was taught about how to conduct a research and what are the possible biases one can have while performing a research and how these biases will have an impact over the outcome of the report or research we do. In fact, my project is so based on a research and despite me trying to avoid my bias in favor of the positive outcome, I fail to avoid it. I get to know this when I step back and read my reports with a neutral mindset. So I'm sure it is hard to write anything without bias but reading it with a fresh mind before publishing will help and particularly for someone with a good number of followers it's important to overcome bias.
